Everything going on in the world of fitness and workout apps. January update includes Nike NTC partnering with Netflix, new smartwatch integrations, and Fitbod’s 2022 Year in Review!
Nike NTC partners with Netflix
Subscribers to Netflix will now be able to workout to Nike NTC content directly through their TV, as the two companies have announced a partnership. Since the start of the year, a handful of NTC workouts have been available on the stream platform.
This seems like a great move for both companies. Nike gets increased exposure for its awesome NTC workout app by utilizing existing content, while Netflix gets to test a completely new streaming category. We expect to see a lot more of these fitness company – streaming platform buddy ups in the future.
New Smart Watch Integrations
As smart watch adoption continues to grow amongst the American consumer (a recent study estimating 30% of Americans wear some sort of fitness tracker or smart watch), users expect to be able to control all of their apps from their wrist device.
The fitness brands are taking note and continue to develop Android and Apple integrations at pace. The latest to join the band waggon are Centr and Pliability. Pliability has enhanced their Apple Watch integration, while Centr is now integrated across Apple and Android devices. Read here for more.
Fitbod’s 2022 Year in Review
Finally, a bit of fun to finish off. Fitbod has compiled a Year in Review from its user data, and there are some crazy stats in there!! Our favourite is the number of reps completed for the Bicep Curl … 62 million! Unsurprisingly beach muscles still rule and this was the most common exercise performed by Fitbod users in 2022.
