Overview
FitOn is a classic home workout app. There are hundreds of instructor-led workout videos for you to choose from, in all sorts of categories. There are cardio workouts, HIIT, Pilates, Yoga, and even some more unique types, such as self-defense workouts.
The workouts come in all varieties of duration and intensity, from gentle 5-minute routines up to intense hour-long workouts.
Fitbod, on the other hand, is built for use in the gym. The app uses some clever AI algorithms to generate a strength workout for you based on what machines and weights you used in your previous workout. Each workout is highly configurable—you can add or change reps, sets, and even the suggested exercises, allowing you to create a completely custom workout routine.
The apps also differ in additional features. FitOn is packed with them! There is a whole nutrition and meal planning section, and also the ability to follow and talk to other fitness users, which brings a social element to your workouts.
Fitbod, by comparison, has none of these extras. All the functionality in the app is focused on progressing your strength training in the gym, including some awesome graphs and stats for each exercise to show how strong you are getting.
In regards to price, FitOn is free to access all the workout content. To unlock all the features in the app, you need to upgrade to a pro package at $24.99 for a 6-month subscription. Fitbod requires a paid subscription to use the workouts, and after a free trial period, you are required to pay $12.99 per month.
Which is better? FitOn or Fitbod?
If you want a dedicated app for planning and logging your gym training, then Fitbod is for you. The whole app is built around strength training and is highly configurable, allowing you to create almost any workout routine.
However, if you want to work out at home and be guided by expert fitness coaches, FitOn is the right choice. Beginners will especially enjoy the huge range of additional features on offer to help you with your fitness journey.
