Overview
Alo Moves is a premium fitness app with a focus on Yoga workouts, although you can find plenty of other workout styles. HIIT, cardio, and strength workouts are all available in the vast collection of over 3000 workout videos. The workouts are instructor-guided continuous videos, often shot in glam backgrounds which gives a very inspirational feel to the app.
Sweat is another female focused workout app, created by fitness influencer Kayla Itsines. The majority of the workouts are based around fitness – think HIIT, cardio and strength routines. However the app also includes Yoga, Pilates, Barre, and even post pregnancy workouts.
Although there is less workout content in Sweat, there is still over 300 routines. The majority of workouts in Sweat are in a different format to Alo Moves, where you manually control the progress through the routine by manually clicking through a series of exercises, once you complete a set.
When it comes to additional features, Sweat has a lot more on offer compared to Alo Moves. Both apps have decent social features to make you feel like you are part of a fitness community. However Sweat also includes a whole bunch of progress tracking and rewards features, such as before and after pics, and achievement badges for completing workout streaks. Sweat also includes a huge library of healthy recipes in it’s nutrition sections, and a fully functional calendar to let you schedule your workouts.
Both apps require a paid monthly subscription of approximately $20 to use, and both have decent free trials to allow you to test out the content before committing.
Which is better? Alo Moves or Sweat?
Both are great for beginners and advanced users, with a good mix of gentle and more challenging workouts available.
If you are super keen on Yoga then Alo Moves is likely the better choice. Similarly, if you workout of choice is fitness, cardio and HIIT, then Sweat might be the way to go.
Alo Moves definitely has a more glam feel about it, with the influencer instructors shooting their workout videos in beautiful locations. If you get your inspiration from following these aspirational lifestyles then you are in the right place with Alo Moves.
In comparison Sweat is a lot more functional, with more focus on providing you with features to help you hit your fitness goals (progress tracking, nutrition sections, scheduling workouts, etc).
