Overview
On first glance, BetterMe and JustFit are very similar workout apps. With both apps you complete a huge onboarding quiz when using the app for the first time, which is used to generate a personalized workout plan.
The workout plan generated by JustFit seems very customized to your workout goal. You can clearly see the different phases of the training plan broken down in a way to reach your ‘target date’, and the app features various graphs to let you track your weight over time to make sure you are on track.
The plan in BetterMe seems a bit more basic, and takes the form of a Daily Plan containing a recommended workout, and other targets such as a daily calorie limit and daily step count.
The style of the workouts are similar in both apps, with lots of beginner friendly routines that can be completed at home with little or no workout equipment. The quality of the workouts are slightly better in JustFit, as you get guided narration from the instructor and backing music, both of which are largely missing in BetterMe.
In regards to additional features, BetterMe is definitely the winner here. There is a complete nutrition section with daily meal plans and calorie loggers (although you pay extra for these features). However, the stand out feature has to be the informational content that is part of the Daily Plan. These articles are all focused on creating healthy habits and changing your lifestyle, and really help you understand the science behind your workouts and meal plans.
Both apps require a paid subscription to use costing $19.99 per month.
Which is better? BetterMe or JustFit?
Both apps are good options for beginners who need help with creating their workout plans.
If you are getting fit for a particular event and want a focused workout plan to help you reach that goal, JustFit is the best choice. The workout plan and progress tracking features are all focused on helping you achieve a specific goal.
For users who want to effect a more complete lifestyle change and develop some long lasting healthy habits, BetterMe is the best app. There are far more additional features compared to JustFit, such as the meal plans and educational content, that is baked into the daily workout plan.
